How strong is an angel?

Hello K,

Thank you for contacting ProofDirectory.

“That night the angel of the LORD went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning–there were all the dead bodies!” (2 kings 19:35).

In the above passage, the Bible gives an illustration of the angel’s powers. When the Assyrians raged war against Israel, God sent His angel and he alone destroyed 185,000 Assyrians in one night. Angels are mighty warriors of God Almighty.

Angels are a different order of beings than humans. They are spirit beings (Hebrews 1:14) without physical bodies. They were created as an order of creatures higher than humans (Hebrews 2:9). Therefore, they possess greater knowledge and power.

Angels are God’s servants (Psalm 103:20; Hebrews 1:7) and messengers (Luke 1:19; 2:8-14). In a general sense, they use their powers in controlling nature (Revelation 7:1; 16:3, 8, 9), controlling nations (2 Kings 19:35), and to do God’s bidding.

And in an individual sense, angels use their powers to protect God’s children (Psalm 34:7; Daniel 6:20, 23), serve the faithful (Heb.1:14), fight the enemy (Psalm 35:4, 5) guard individuals (Matthew 18:10), deliver from danger (Acts 12:7) and provide physical needs to God’s children (Genesis 21:17-20; 1 Kings 19:5-7).

Even Satan’s angels have great powers which are used for his purposes. But thank God, these evil angels will be finally destroyed at the lake of fire (Matthew 25:41). And they will trouble the world no more.

In His service,
